Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
On the night of January 27, a woman in the Kheernahar area of Birbhum was allegedly raped by her neighbor, a young man from the same locality. The victim, a housewife, was reportedly alone in her home when the accused, in an intoxicated state, entered the house. According to the victim’s statement, the door of her house was left open while she was busy with household chores. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused entered the house, locked the door behind him, and reportedly assaulted the woman from behind.
After the assault, the accused allegedly threatened the victim with harm if she reported the incident. In response, the victim filed a written complaint at the Kheernahar police station the following morning. The complaint detailed the sequence of events, including the attack and the threat made by the accused. The woman’s statement was recorded by the police as part of the investigation.
Following the complaint, Kheernahar police arrested the accused on the same day. The police have launched a full investigation into the matter, examining all available evidence, including the victim's statement and any potential witnesses. Authorities have confirmed that the accused is currently in custody, and the investigation is ongoing to gather further details and ensure justice for the victim.
